Every year, millions of Muslims prepare for the same journey: Hajj or Umrah. Alongside prayer clothes and travel documents, pilgrims pack a small set of items they’ll rely on every single day — a bag to keep their belongings secure, a suitcase that survives the trip, a prayer mat they can use anywhere, and often a way to perform wudu without waiting in a long line for a tap.
Most of these items get sourced separately, from whichever supplier happens to be available, with little thought given to how differently they need to perform in this specific context.
What Pilgrims Actually Need
Bags and waist pouches
- Anti-theft closures — crowds of over a million people make an open pocket a real risk
- Purpose-built compartments for phone, passport, prayer beads, and pebbles for Muzdalifah
- Lightweight, breathable fabric that holds up in 40°C+ heat
- Modest design — calligraphy or geometric detail instead of loud branding
Luggage
- Reinforced wheels and corners that survive repeated airline baggage handling
- Dust- and moisture-resistant materials for desert transit and humid coastal layovers
- A size that clears standard checked-baggage limits without being flimsy
Small essentials
- A portable, foldable prayer mat — compact enough for a carry-on, easy to wipe clean between prayers
- A small rechargeable wudu washer for airports, buses, and anywhere a tap isn’t available
Where We Fit In
We’re XASUFU, We’re still a young company, and we won’t pretend to have this niche fully figured out yet. What we do have is direct access, through our base in Baigou, to reliable partner factories across bags, luggage, prayer mats, and small travel electronics — which means we can put together backpacks, waist bags, luggage, portable prayer mats, and electric wudu washers as one coordinated package, from a single point of contact.
We’d rather work closely with a small number of agencies to get the details right than mass-produce something generic. If you’re sourcing for an upcoming season and want a travel kit built around your group’s actual needs, we’d welcome the conversation.
